Hi Helen - my cousins lived too far away when I was little for me to get close so I missed out on those relationships - but boy did I ever invent them in my head. It was just as well that's where they stayed because all I can remember of those "relationships" is that I was awfully bossy :)

Great post Helen! I get the CPSC recall updates in my email and I am constantly amazed at the subject lines of these emails... "chainsaws recalled due to laceration hazard," for example. REALLY?

I think you take them for granted when you're a kid, but then realize as you grow older how important they are in your lives.

We had enough "entertainment" being owned by one dog - I don't know how anyone could survive with 3-4, even if they are as small as chihuahuas! The woman who has Little Bit also has two other bull terriers, so she has a busy house, too.

What a cutie! My S-I-L keeps a herd of 3-4 chihuahua's - and they're all rescue dogs. The current group has two that can't keep their tongues in their mouths (for different reasons) and one whose back legs don't work right b/c he got stepped on. A couple that she's adopted have been too sick and didn't live very long, but most have lived long and happy lives with her. They crack me up, too, running through the house and yapping!

I wish! I guess I should have made it more clear - Little Bit belongs to a woman in Cheyenne, Wyoming, who found her through a rescue contact in Texas. She's committed a lot of time and money into giving Little Bit a chance and I really admire her for it.

Its a constant struggle! You're doing better than I am if you've made it through a whole month. I never last more than a couple of days.
